Price Explanation

Time: The conception process of The Belfast Top is about 3 hours. This includes cutting the fabric, pinning, sewing, and pressing. $60

Fabric: 1 metre of linen is €10 (~$15 CAD) per metre and 1 metre of cotton batiste is $19. The Belfast Top uses 0.5 metres of each. $34

Notions: 3 wooden buttons. $1.50

Marketing: Website Hosting Fee/Number of pieces I’d like to sell in a year = $4.00 (the USA to CAD exchange rate hurts here lol)

Packaging: Clothing tags, Paper, Mailer, etc. $2.92

Markup: The Belfast Top costs me a total of $102.42 to make. I choose to sell it at $120 so that I can earn an additional $17.58 with each sale. The markup of each product allows me to cover the indirect costs of producing the blouse, such as the time and money that goes into design, pattern drafting, shooting product, purchasing and developing film, shooting, etc!

I hope this breakdown provides a little bit more insight into the conception process of a garment, and encourages you to approach all of your purchases with a bit more empowerment and intention ♥
